Students followed the steps of the writing process to write personal narratives. Then they read their narratives to their classmates. The audiences asked the readers questions about their experiences.
We are now studying verbs—action, linking, and helping verbs. We will delve deeper as we learn to recognize direct objects, predicate nouns, and predicate adjectives.

Students were tested on pronouns Friday and Monday. We are now analyzing a poem, looking for figures of speech, point of view, imagery, and rhyme scheme. At the end of the week, students will be introduced to new vocabulary relating to amounts, large and small.
Long-Math
This week in math, all classes will begin a unit on fractions. We will start off in chapter four in the textbook with lesson 2 (“Simplifying Fractions”) and move on from there. All classes will have a quiz on Monday on ordering decimals in contextual situations, and later in the week students will be assessed on simplifying fractions and finding equivalent fractions.
***Today, students in periods 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7 each received “Noteables”, an interactive study notebook that corresponds with the textbook. Students will be issued only one copy of this book for the year, so it is important that they take proper care of it. The students should bring the Noteables workbook to class every day, as we will often use it to take notes on a new concept. Students should also be encouraged to bring Noteables home to guide them as they complete their homework on the corresponding topics.
***Period 8 did not receive Noteables workbooks, as we will need to order a new set in order for all students to receive one. This class will receive copies of pages needed to serve the purpose until new books arrive.
